Everything you record in GARIO — your vehicles, documents, photos, service history, costs and reminders — is stored on your device. We run no servers that receive it, and we never do. The free version shows non-personalised ads from Google, which sends information off your device by default. GARIO also contacts gario.app when you ask for a service plan (section 5A), and on Android it asks PTT and Bangchak for fuel prices (section 5B). None of these requests contains your records. This policy explains exactly what each involves.

1. Who we are

GARIO (the “app”) is published by Alongkorn Preeyatum, an individual developer based in Thailand (“we”, “us”, “our”). You can reach us about privacy at [email protected]. This policy applies to GARIO on every platform we release it for, and to this website.

2. The short version

3. What you record, and where it lives

You may enter or attach:

All of this is stored only on your device, in the app’s sandboxed storage. A small summary (a vehicle name and your next due item) is also written to a private area on the same device so a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget can show it. None of it is sent to us, and none of it is given to the ads software described in section 7.

4. Camera, photos and location

GARIO uses the camera and your photo library only when you choose to scan your registration book or attach a document or photo. Text recognition runs on your device, and images are not uploaded anywhere. You can decline or later revoke camera and photo access in your device’s settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

Location. The Emergency numbers tool has a “Tell someone where you are” button. Only when you tap Find my location does GARIO ask your phone for its position, using the phone’s GPS (and, on Android, nearby networks when GPS is not available). GARIO shows you the coordinates. If you tap Send by SMS, it opens your messages app with the position and a map link already written in the message; you choose who receives it and you press send, so GARIO does not send it. GARIO does not store the position, keep a history of where you have been, upload it, or give it to the ads software described in section 7. This is separate from the approximate location that Google’s ads software may work out from your IP address. You can decline or later revoke location access in your device’s settings; the emergency numbers and the rest of the app keep working. When someone opens the map link you sent, their own phone and maps app handle it.

Calls. Tapping an emergency number opens your phone’s dialer with the number filled in. You place the call yourself, through your own carrier, and GARIO does not see it. The numbers are carried inside the app and need no internet.

5. Notifications and widgets

Deadline reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No push server is involved. You can turn them off in your device’s notification settings for GARIO, or within the app. Widgets read only the on-device summary described in section 3.

5A. Service plans

GARIO can show a reference service plan for your vehicle: when each service is due and roughly what it costs. The plans are small public files that we publish on gario.app. They contain no personal data.

These requests carry no account, cookie, advertising identifier, licence plate, odometer reading or vehicle record. As with any website, your IP address and the time and file requested reach gario.app’s hosting provider (Cloudflare) in its server logs. We do not use these to identify you or to build a profile of you. Plans are a reference only: they cite their source, and your service centre has the final word on timing and price.

5B. Fuel prices (Android)

The Gasoline price screen shows current and past fuel prices in Thailand. GARIO does not hold these prices. When you open the screen, or pick a past day, the app asks the companies that publish them: PTT Oil and Retail Business (orapiweb.pttor.com) and Bangchak (oil-price.bangchak.co.th).

The iPhone version currently shows sample prices and makes no request.

6. Optional sign-in

You do not need an account to use GARIO. If you choose to sign in, GARIO uses your platform’s sign-in service — Sign in with Apple on Apple devices, Google Sign-In on Android. The service gives the app a unique identifier and, if you allow it, your name and an email address (which may be a private-relay address). GARIO stores this on your device to label your local profile. We do not receive it and there is no account on our side. Your use of the sign-in service is also governed by the provider’s own privacy policy (Apple, Google).

7. Ads in the free version

The free version of GARIO is paid for by ads: a banner on some screens, and now and then a full-screen ad when you move between tabs (never more than once every few minutes). Ads are served by Google AdMob, using Google’s Mobile Ads software development kit (“SDK”) built into the app.

What we do to limit it

What Google’s SDK collects

To deliver ads, measure them and prevent fraud, the SDK collects technical information directly from your device and sends it to Google. According to Google’s own disclosures this includes:

Google handles this information as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

With GARIO Pro

If you subscribe to Pro, GARIO does not start the ads SDK and never requests or shows an ad, so the ads SDK sends nothing to Google from your device. The SDK’s code is still included in the app, because the same app serves free and Pro users.

8. Backups

GARIO never backs up to a server of ours. Every backup goes to a place you choose and control:

Your device’s own system backup (for example an iCloud or computer backup of the whole device) may also include GARIO’s data. That is controlled by you and your device provider, not by us.

9. Purchases and subscriptions

GARIO Pro subscriptions and any other in-app purchases are processed entirely by the store you installed from (Apple’s App Store or Google Play). We never receive your payment card or billing details. The store tells the app on your device whether you have an active subscription, and that check happens on your device — we keep no record of who has subscribed. Apple and Google may share anonymous, aggregated sales reports with us, as they do with every developer.

10. Third parties, in one place

We do not sell personal data, and we have no personal data about you to sell.

11. Your rights and choices

Data-protection laws — including Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act, Singapore’s PDPA, Malaysia’s PDPA and the Philippines’ Data Privacy Act — give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your data-protection authority.

If you have a question or a request we can help with, email [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days.

12. How long data is kept

Your records stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall GARIO. Backups stay where you put them until you delete them (the iCloud automatic backup keeps only the latest three). Information collected by the ads SDK is retained by Google under its own policies. We keep nothing about you. Cloudflare keeps ordinary web-server logs for gario.app, and PTT and Bangchak keep their own, under their own policies.

13. Security

Your records are protected by your operating system’s app sandbox and by device encryption, which protects app data while your device is locked with a passcode, PIN or biometric unlock. Connections GARIO makes to Google, Apple, gario.app, PTT or Bangchak use encrypted HTTPS. Keep your operating system up to date and use a device lock.

14. International transfers

We do not transfer your records anywhere. Google and Apple, as the providers of the ads, backup, sign-in and store services above, and Cloudflare, PTT and Bangchak for the requests in sections 5A and 5B, may process information in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards.

15. Children

GARIO is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. A parent or guardian can delete any data from the device directly.

16. Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app or its release notes.
